Dutchess Chapter Emergency Services Director Greg Becker was in cell phone contact with the incident commander, Deputy Chief Barry Ward. The Dutchess Red Cross chapter and fire department ladies' auxiliary worked together to establish a reception center for the children until parents could be notified for pickup, and drinks and snacks were provided. The Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle also provided canteening support for emergency personnel at the incident scene. Lunch was provided at the reception center for evacuees and emergency workers estimated to be 70 people.

The Red Cross Dutchess Chapter had 14 paid and volunteer staff working at the site.
